Ethical Fashion: Apparel and accessories that are created without bringing harm to people, animals, and our planet.
Fashion is a beautiful, and exciting industry that offers a platform for creative expression. Unfortunately, not all garment workers are treated fairly, animals are exploited, and our planet suffers from massive amounts of pollution on a daily basis all in the name of fashion. It doesn’t have to be this way.
I’ve made it my mission in life both personally and professionally to partner with socially responsible brands that are respectful to people, animals, and our planet. As an ethical fashionista, it is important to me to highlight brands that share my values. It brings me great joy being able to work with fair trade, vegan, and eco-friendly fashion designers, jewelry designers, and handbag designers that promote ethics in fashion.
Malia Designs is a fair trade brand that designs and sells eco-friendly handbags and wallets from upcycled and recycled materials. Every purchase helps to fight human trafficking in Cambodia and the U.S.
Ethical Beauty: Cosmetics and personal care products that are created without harming animals and the environment.
Lipstick can brighten your day. The right shade of eye shadow can make your outfit come together. Sometimes just a little mascara can give you that extra boost of confidence to get through your day. How would you feel if those same cosmetics that bring you so much joy, were also responsible for the senseless murder of innocent animals? Rabbits, mice, rats, and guinea pigs are usually the victims of this horrendous practice which includes many torturous procedures including being burned, shaved, and force fed to determine what a lethal consumption amount would be. These animals suffer blindness, swollen eyes, and internal bleeding before they are put to death by asphyxiation...yes, they break their necks or decapitate their heads. Guess what? This is completely unnecessary.
As a proud animal rights advocate, I have vowed to solely support vegan cosmetic companies that leave animals out of their labs. It just does not have to be this way and there are so many brands that do not test on animals and do not use animal byproducts in their ingredients. Vegan products made without harsh chemicals are much more beautiful because they are made with love and compassion for our planet and all living beings on it.
One of my many curated pop up events featuring Rescued Fashion, Vegan Beauty, and Fair Trade Accessories! There are so many ethical companies out there that you can support such as Sweet Leilani’s Cosmetics and Shanti Boutique!
Ethical World: A world that functions in a loving and compassionate matter while respecting one another and all living beings on this beautiful planet that we share.
I dream of a world where people don’t abuse, exploit, or take advantage of one another. I dream of a world where animals can roam freely without fear of ending up on someones dinner plate or have their skin torn from their body for fashion. I dream of a world where all living beings cherish and nurture our planet rather than depleting it of it’s beautiful and natural resources.
This doesn’t have to be a dream. We have the power to come together and create a sustainable and loving world for future generations to enjoy. We have the power to shop our values and demand transparency. We have the power to support brands that care about people, animals, and our planet.
“And so, lifting as we climb, onward and upward we go, struggling and striving, and hoping that the buds and blossoms of our desires will burst into glorious fruition ere long. With courage, born of success achieved in the past, with a keen sense of the responsibility which we shall continue to assume, we look forward to a future large with promise and hope.” Mary Church Terrell, Activist
